Prior to this I have held positions of Module yards HSSE Director, FPSO construction HSSE manager, Business operations manager, QHSES Director, HSES Director, Marine and Project HSES Manager and Senior Advisor as well as general construction supervisor, Rigging and Scaffolding Supervisor across the oil and gas, mining, and remote community development sectors.

I have a strong track record for successful set up and delivery of complex projects across multiple countries and cultures including China, India, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia.

Passionate about project delivery and specializing in Health, safety, and environment with significant experience in Global Supply Chain and Quality Assurance.

  • Overall management of activities for health, safety, and environmental within the project organization.
  • Establish and maintain contact with HSE department and client, to generate joint initiatives for enhancing HSE awareness and results.
  • Establish and issue a project HSE plan with philosophies, strategies, and goals to achieve outstanding HSE results throughout the project.
  • Promote HSE education, awareness, and engagement.
  • Review and approve in consultation with Client the EPCC contractors HSE plan and ensure that they are working in accordance with the approved plans.
  • Carry out a systematic verification that contractors have HSE management system in place up and running prior to start of construction activities.
  • Monitor and supervise the contractors to ensure that their performance reflects good industry practice and satisfies or exceeds the contractual requirements for the project.
  • Review contractors’ HSE deliverables and documents to ensure these reflect the project requirements.
  • Review the basis for the construction HSE procedures, including fire and safety regulations, and issue to appropriate parties.
  • Execute additional Mandatory Company Requirements
  • Coordinate with site construction director for the compliance of HSE requirements in the common facilities (camp, recreational areas, canteens, medical clinic, etc.)
  • Coordinate with the site administrator and the specialized company (including the EPCC contractors and/or their specialized subcontractors) in charge of the camp management (catering, health, wellbeing of the workforce, etc.)
  • Participate in site walk-through to visually check compliance with HSE requirements and best practice.
  • Monitor that contractor(s)’ workforce are fit for work and do not present health problem such as plague or epidemic disease.
  • Check that construction equipment used by contractor(s) is registered and in safe status for operation.
  • Monitor that contractor(s) is respecting the environmental requirements during the construction execution (disposal, garbage, dust, pollution, etc.).
  • Scheduling and conducting HSE training required for the project.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly report on HSE related issues (including statistics, salient facts, etc.) for the overall project.

JFJV Module Yards - HSSE Director

  • Oversee all project HSSE related activities for the Module Fabrication Yards (MFY’s), encompassing 192 modules, 282,307 metric tons fabricated in COOEC Fabrication Yard (Qingdao, China), COOEC – Fluor Fabrication Yard (Zhuhai, China), Shanghai Yanda Engineering Fabrication Yard (Haimen, China), Baker Hughes (BH) Fabrication Yards (Florence & Avenza, Italy), 192 modules representing 282,307 metric tons fabricated.
  • Responsible for the set-up, establishment, and implementation of the JFJV HSSE MS across all MFY locations. Work in close collaboration with the JVD Project Management, JFJV’s MFY Site Managers and JFJV MFY HSSE Managers at each of the MFY locations to ensure all contractual and legislative requirements are met.


Key Duties:

  • Champion the Safer Together / IIF (Safety Culture) and Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) programs across the MFY’s.
  • Ensure Module Fabricators (MF’s) and Subcontractor HSSE Management Systems meet or exceed Project HSE Management System (MS).
  • Monitoring and reporting on the status of all HSSE activities.
  • Sharing lessons learned between all MFY locations and from Kitimat (Project Site).
  • Attending the Monthly Project HSSE Steering Committee.
  • Ensuring the adequacy and timely exchange of information and data between the Project disciplines and HSSE.
  • Identifying, planning, and participating in the Project overall HSSE reviews and studies.
  • Providing advice on the implementation of the HSSE programs at the MFY’s.
  • Identifying, developing, and updating the applicable HSSE documentation and coordinating its implementation.
  • Monitoring, auditing (where applicable) and reporting on JFJV’s Project HSSE Management System, plans and procedures.
  • Reviewing and reporting on the MF’s HSSE performance.
  • Participate in MFY’s risk assessment reviews, assessments and HAZID’s.
  • Management of the projects HSSE Hazard Effects Management Program (HEMP).
  • Assistance in the MFY’s Audits and Assurance activities, including supporting Corporate or Client Audits.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Project and Yard Management in the application of sound internal controls for audit actions.
  • Ensure each applicable MFY conducts an Annual HSSE Management Review including participation from Yard Management & the client.
  • Assisting MFY HSSE Managers with the establishment and implementation of MF’s PTW System.
  • Provide oversight of all MFY related recordable injuries and/or illnesses.
  • Lead (where applicable) in Root Cause Analysis Investigations (i.e. TapRoot).
  • Establish and revise MFY Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that align with the requirements of the Project.
  • Provide support and coaching to the MFY’s HSSE Managers and HSSE professionals.
