Assistant Principal

This role is equal parts administrative as it is teaching. The administration tasks include:

  • Oversee daily classroom staffing to ensure compliant teacher–student ratios and I effectively coordinate changing teacher shift times as enrollment changes.
  • Provide instructional leadership by coaching teachers on behavior strategies, determining when to initiate logs, and leading or co‑facilitating parent conferences.
  • Create an open door policy with parents to collaborate on concerns, questions and complex student needs.
  • Manage classroom and school‑wide resources by assessing needs, sourcing and ordering materials, and ensuring items are available on time.
  • Serve as the primary facilities liaison, coordinating with maintenance vendors on routine repairs and major projects (e.g., HVAC additions and leak remediation).
  • Track tuition billing processes. Maintaining the updates in NetSuite and communicating with our billing department.
  • Lead family engagement and enrollment efforts by conducting campus tours, hosting open houses and providing informative communication. (e.g., announcements of school photos, virtual parents talks and upcoming events)
  • Partner with the talent acquisition team member to review resumes, schedule and conduct interviews, and initiate offer letters appropriate to our campus.
  • Support the implementation of Montessori curriculum and practices with the assistance of our Schoology resources and collaboration with Montessori certified teachers.

The teaching portion of this position comes partially from working in any classroom that needs coverage, which has so much fulfillment within building the relationships with our students and our parents. As well as, mentoring and guiding the teachers so they can spend their shifts with clear expectations and support to empower children learn in an academic and fun environment.

During this year, I was a stay at home mom while I took night classes at CWI to obtain my intermediate technical certification in Medical Assisting. After working as a caregiver for two years, this was such a great learning experience that strengthened my passion for working with patients. The courses covered the following skills and more:

  • The main skill set of this role is the be kind and patient. It is important to verbalize all of the tasks completed for comfort of the resident and it was such a fun experience to build relationships with them.
  • Routine administration of medication, up to 20 residents at a time. Thorough knowledge of the prescription and patient history is necessary.
  • Experience in blood sugar checks and insulin injections, transdermal patches, eye/ear drops, and many different pre-op/post-op surgery tasks. Experience with COVID protocol.
  • Assisting in daily tasks to enhance quality of life and maintain health and hygiene. Showers, changing clothes, and incontinent care etc.
  • Accurate documentation of patient vitals and medication administration. Including patients physical condition, behavioral status, mental state, and resident interactions.
  • Alzheimer's/dementia care requires staying alert to de-escalate situations and redirect aggressive or inappropriate behavior.
