Bio

Delving deep into the crux of my IBDP subject of Psychology, I facilitate my students with three objectives: first- to develop personal values and acquire sound judgment: second to inculcate the quality of patience for a better tomorrow and third- to provide fundamental knowledge and tools applicable for a pedagogical career. I am obliged to the administrators of Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School, Jakarta who recognised my potentiality and encouraged my work strategy. Thereafter, within the tenure of 2 years of experience IBMYP Geography and IBDP ESS were added to my daily time-table. Nevertheless, a feather in the cap was added as they nominated my name as an IB Examiner of Psychology. I mostly devote my class hours to raising difficult concepts and developing critical thinking. I feel my job is more like a gardener, whose responsibility is to nurture and weed the best plants and also nurture their intellectual curiosity. Being an IB Psychology Teacher, I tried my best to facilitate the use of processing skills such as open-mindedness, critical thinking and problem-solving. My emphasis is always to make them believe in themselves and to think out of the box as it is a powerful tool in making sense of the world. I tried to instil a sense of social, ethical and environmental responsibility in my students who will be the leaders of tomorrow. I feel teacher's role in emerging society is scientific, regarding the sedimentation and filtration of students. Setting them down in various spheres of life, as it happens in sedimentations and filtering out bad qualities from them for future sky exploration. Getting good grades in IB can be a great challenge, but if we as teachers remain consistent and focused with our approach it will be possible for our students to achieve good results. The majority of students who are in the IB program are a combination of smart, passionate, and determined individuals. My aim is always to make them identify their strength and weaknesses and guide them not to procrastinate, as they can't achieve better results just on the basis of preparation a day before their exam. Therefore, it’s our responsibility to make them understand the importance of time management. IB programmes enjoy a high level of respect and recognition among the world's higher education institutions. I always aim for students' success in their IB results to achieve perfect scores and update them for other admissions-related benefits at the university level. The teaching and learning are all about exploring and making connections with the real world, but I feel it is incomplete without having fun along the way. It is more of going down to their levels, clearing their concepts and once it is understood, a big smile on their face is the reward. The sole understanding of exposing myself to a new culture, and ideas and getting the opportunity to know more about new learning experiences through the IB Curriculum which has a positive effect on my teaching. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their knowledge. Though we impart knowledge, the students are the real source of this aspiration and knowledge. Our identity is because of them otherwise teachers would have never existed. They are there, so I am there, in other words, they exist, and so do I.

Approaches To Teaching And Learning

Children learn in a variety of ways, the method that works for one child—or even most of the children—in my class will not work for everyone. We as a teacher needs to be able to identify a child's learning style and tailor our approach accordingly., Technology is such an integral part of society today, so I try my best to update my teaching methods with various technology and research skills., Develop a strong bond with students and help them in coming up the learning curve and excel., Children can be frustratingly stubborn and disrespectful, but impatience will only make matters worse, so my methodology is always to win their confidence and guide them accordingly., Academics, Communication Skills, Personality Development, Use of PPT’s, Discussions, indoor and outdoor activities
