I have worked four seasons of basketball, with my first season being exclusively at the middle school and AAU levels.
Two seasons at the varsity high school level, working games all over the state of Idaho, from 1A to 6A classifications.
I volunteered last year to work a scrimmage for North Idaho College, in which I got to experience what officiating at the college level would feel like, as well as work at the speed and skill level of college athletes.
In 2024, I was selected by my association for the Rising Stripes Camp scholarship award. They were able to award me a small scholarship that I was able to use to help me attend two basketball camps, including the Correct Call Officials camp, and the Treasure Valley Officials camp.
While at the Correct Call officials' camp in Helena, Montana, I got to learn from officials at all levels of basketball, including guys like Kyle Bacon, Cory Thompson, Matt Mason, and Rob Tesch. Some of my main points of emphasis for this particular case were my rotations, specifically as the lead official, and also staying active as the center and trail official, so that I have the best chance to be in the perfect position to make a call at all times.
In addition, I also attended the Treasure Valley Officials Camp down in Boise, Idaho. While I was there, I was given the Ironman Award, which was awarded to the official who worked the most games over the weekend of the camp. While there, I focused on learning the primary coverage areas and perfecting my mechanics when reporting fouls to the table.
In the 2024-2025 season, I was able to work as the referee for a couple of 6A district regional boys' games for Post Falls, Lake City, and Coeur d'Alene.
At the end of this season, I was chosen to work three All-Star games for the state of Idaho. I was the crew chief for the girls' annual all-star senior game at North Idaho College. In which girls from all over the state, including schools like Owyhee, Eagle, Rocky Mountain, Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland, and more. I also had the privilege to work at both of the Mullan State All-Star Games for both the boys' and girls' teams.
I worked a total of 23 varsity games over the course of the 2024-2025 season. And got to see teams from all over Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana areas.
My goals for this coming season, and hopefully the many seasons in the future. I aim to keep moving in an upward trajectory as I continue to climb the ranks as an official and eventually be able to work at the college and even NBA level.
