Michael Joyce

At CCS I taught 3–4 and 4–5-year-old students through a play-based, child-centred approach, supporting their development, independence, and curiosity. Later transitioned to Year 2 to broaden my primary teaching experience and further develop my understanding of the transition from Early Years to Primary.

As an experienced Classroom Teacher my role is to lead the Year Level team to provide a creative and safe indoor and outdoor learning environments to support high quality learning. I was also providing
a role model of the implementation of the Yew Chung Approach and the best indicative practices which support this.

As a Team Leader my other responsibilities were to work with a Co-leader to facilitate Year Level teacher sharing sessions ensuring participation and engagement from all team members. As well as supporting new teachers during their first year.

As a Nursery Teacher in Salford I was presented with many challenges throughout the year and learnt many new skills in the process, for example.

• Established strong, supportive relationships with families, encouraging parental involvement to boost children's achievement.
• Maintained rigorous safeguarding procedures for continued child safety and wellbeing.
• Utilised tested behaviour management techniques to operate a positive, productive learning environment.

After completing my NQT year I wanted to teach in my local community. I was hired to teach a Reception class (4-5 year olds) on a maternity cover contract. I learnt my trade as a classroom teacher and was supported well by SLT as I continued my own professional development.

During my third year at University i was placed at Hindley All Saints. I graduated with 2:1 and was hired by the school to complete my NQT year. Here is learnt many new skills and passed my NQT qualification.
