Summary

I have over 10 years of experience working in the field of International Affairs and International Development, with roles on External Relations/Partnerships at a mid-level position and in Monitoring and Evaluation. My current role as a Senior Officer for External Relations at the ASEAN Secretariat has provided me with opportunities to facilitate and support numerous ASEAN meetings with external partners, particularly the East Asia Summit at the Ambassador level, Senior Officials level, Foreign Ministers level and Leaders' Summits. This includes, among other tasks, providing necessary documents for high-level managements, both for and as follow-up to meetings, such as talking points, briefing notes, document kits, and summary records.

Senior Officer for External Relations Division 1 (East Asia Summit Unit)

  • Management and facilitation of political and development cooperation under the East Asia Summit (EAS) framework, providing support as a general resource person on political and development cooperation within the EAS, and preparing discussion papers, information documents, and other resources as required
  • Support for ASEAN bodies under the APSC pillar in relation to EAS meetings (including EAS Leaders' Meetings, EAS Foreign Ministers' Meetings, EAS Senior Officials' Meetings, and EAS Ambassadors' Meetings), through: (i) preparation of necessary documents for meetings and follow-up actions (such as document kits, summary records, and matrices of follow-up actions); (ii) preparation of internal documents for meetings (such as the ASEAN Secretariat's document kits, including talking points)


Achievements:

  • Adoption of three East Asia Summit (EAS) Leaders' Statements in 2021, issuance of a Chairman's Statement in 2022 and adoption of one EAS Leaders' Statement in 2023 by the Leaders of the 18 EAS participating countries
  • Adoption of the new EAS Plan of Action 2024-2028 by EAS Foreign Ministers at the 13th EAS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in 2023
  • Strengthened coordination and information sharing with relevant divisions at the ASEAN Secretariat
  • Managed and facilitated negotiations of EAS Leaders' Statements under the ASEAN Chairmanships of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Lao PDR.

Project Officer for Capacity Building and Mid-Term Review of ASCC Blueprint 2025

Actively involved in the development and finalisation of the design, content, and methodologies for training programs on the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Systems of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint. Contributed to substantive matters, including identifying key indicators, setting evaluation criteria, and designing data collection tools to support effective M&E practices. Additionally, conducted a comprehensive Mid-Term Review of the ASCC Blueprint 2025, assessing progress, identifying challenges, and providing recommendations to guide future implementation and enhance impact.


  • Conducted training workshops on the ASCC Blueprint M&E Systems for 10 ASEAN Member States.
  • Conducted the Mid-Term Review, involving intensive national and regional assessments of the ASCC Blueprint 2025 implementation.
  • Supported the development and finalisation of training design, substantive materials, and methodology, including pre and post-training questionnaires, to ensure all parties involved in ASCC Blueprint 2025 implementation share a common understanding of the ASCC M&E Framework.
  • Finalised the training report.
  • Supported the creation of an outline and draft inception report for the ASCC Blueprint 2025 Mid-Term Review, including the identification of purpose and scope, overall approach, data collection plan (methodology) and data analysis, work plan, management arrangements, and implementation budget.
  • Conducted a comprehensive survey of existing documents, data, and information from various sources, including current M&E mechanisms.
  • Supported the operationalisation of the ASCC Results Framework.
  • Provided technical advice on monitoring, evaluation, and socio-cultural issues through briefing papers, presentations, and input for the development of an e-database for the ASCC Blueprint monitoring system.

ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC) Analysis and Monitoring

  • Monitor the implementation of ASEAN agreements and commitments, such as the APSC Blueprint 2025, sectoral roadmaps, and work plans. This includes overseeing commitments with Dialogue Partners and other external partners of ASEAN and developing appropriate monitoring frameworks.
  • Provide research assistance and analysis on existing and emerging issues across the sectors of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), focusing on political-security and ASEAN external relations, as requested by ASEAN Member States and other divisions within the APSC Department.
  • Involved in the processes of the Biennial Review and Evaluation of the APSC Blueprint 2025 implementation. Responsibilities include producing the Preliminary Review of the Implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025, preparing briefing notes and talking points for the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and managing logistical support and outcome documents for meetings, such as the Summary Record and the Indicative List of Cross-Pillar and Cross-Sectoral Issues.
  • Contribute to drafting assessment papers and recommendations related to applications from external parties seeking formal partnerships with ASEAN, as well as applications from states or organisations to accede to the 1976 Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
  • Coordinate with relevant desks, divisions, and departments to maintain the List of ASEAN Cross-Pillar and Cross-Sectoral Issues.

Researcher

Populi Center - Research for Public Opinion and Public Policy

During my tenure as a researcher at Populi Center, my responsibilities included drafting questionnaires as survey instruments for data collection; supervising and coordinating enumerators/field data collectors to study voting behavior; providing support to local enumerator teams to ensure surveys were conducted as planned; processing the collected data and preparing reports in PowerPoint format; and preparing press releases on research findings for presentation to the media, clients, and relevant stakeholders.


I also served as Program Officer, organising public discussions, lectures, and outreach programs under the "Emerging Ideas" series. This role involved contributing content for articles and ideas for Bank Mandiri's internal publications on small and medium enterprises. Additionally, I occasionally represented the organisation as a speaker in public discussions, drafted proposals and company profiles for project bidding, and regularly updated and maintained Populi Center's website with recent activities and survey results.
